Robert identifies as a Black male educator himself. He’s held many positions at the school level including special education, teaching, and school leadership. He’s also worked in multiple nonprofits where he oversaw programming development, implementation, and evaluation. It was during his time working in K-12 settings and in conjunction with schools when he realized the deep need for more Black men to join the teaching force. Their missing perspective dilutes the quality of the decision-making process and young boys of color suffer most because of it. Robert founded the He is Me Institute in 2018 to combat this problem.
Robert earned a B.S. in Math and Social Studies Middle Childhood Education and an Ed.M in Curriculum and Teacher Leadership, both from Miami University (OH).
